A few noteworthy things have been happening lately and I thought I’d pop in and tell you about them.

Today Labrador Records announced that they’ve signed a new band: Det Vackra Livet. Now, before you say,’What the fu…’, let me interject. Det Vackra Livet consists of 2 members from Mary Onettes who wanted to create a project based upon their grandmothers’ memoirs and writings by Swedish/Finnish poet Claes Andersson. The result is a 15-song record(sung in Swedish) that is set to be released later this year, presumably. If you’re skeptical about the language barrier, listen to this first and honestly tell me that it matters. Once you do, I don’t you’ll care.

Yesterday, Low announced a tour in support of their new album which will be their 3rd release under Sub Pop. The album entitled, Cmon, will feature 10 new songs including Try To Sleep, which is featured below. I mentioned Robert Plant covering a couple of their songs awhile back and apparently he got nominated for a Grammy for that album. I still don’t care about it, but hell, if he get one because of it, I’d like to think that they had a great deal to do with it. A Grammy by proxy is still a Grammy.

And it may be a bit premature to get excited for something that hasn’t even been recorded yet, but here we go… Cut Off Your Hands is beginning the recording of their new album today. Why so excited you ask? Well, after being absolutely floored by their debut EP and subsequent full-length, there are few things that I’ve anticipated more over the last couple of years. If you’re not familiar with them, take the time and listen to these samples… you’ll be glad you did.

Still Fond
