Melted Toys: Observations

Three years after releasing their EP, San Francisco quartet Melted Toys is set to release their debut album July 15 with their label Underwater Peoples, just in time to supply listeners with their beachy sound for summer. Like the lingering drift from a wave pool, the single off the album, ‘Observations’, dawdles on with its steady drum machine and monotone vocals as clear guitar set against hazy synths swirl in a current of mesmerizing sound, bubbling with beach-bum beatitude. The influences of vocalist/guitarist Steven Harkin’s voyages throughout China and Japan are evident by the delicacy of the strings and the song’s quiet beauty, rendering Melted Toys with a modern Belle & Sebastian vibe. So mimic the palm trees and sway in the summer dew to this breezy single.
